Braye Beach Hotel

The only 4* Hotel on Alderney

Braye Beach Hotel is literally situated directly on Braye Beach - one of the best bays on the island. You can sit on the terrace and drop a pebble in the sand. This means that the views from the restaurant, bar and bedrooms are hard to beat. Whether bright sunshine, gently rain or howling wind there is always something interesting to see out of the window. Grab a glass of wine, pick and spot, and watch the beauty of nature on your doorstep.

Your Host Richard

Braye Beach would not be the same without Richard with his big smile and red braces

Richard Proctor has been managing Braye Beach for the past 7 years, putting all of his energy and passion into giving guests a very personal and unique experience. Always clad in red braces he makes an instant impression, very much the host of our hotel, and the glue that keeps it together and running so smoothly. An extremely sociable chap, you can expect a warm welcome and a friendship that develops over your holiday.

Richard has been managing hotels around the world for the past 30 years but now very much feels Alderney is his longterm home. He first came to the island when he was 22 years old and dating a lovely Scottish girl. He had always wanted to return to Alderney but did not end up coming back until 35 years later when he was offered the job at Braye Beach.

"When I arrived I was once again captivated – the peace and quiet, the safety, the community – nothing much had changed in all those years. I have lived in many other islands including Ascension Island, St Kitts and Bermuda. They were of course a little hotter than here but Alderney has something extremely special about it."

We hope you enjoy meeting Richard and the rest of our lovely team!

Our Bedrooms

Four different room types, decorated with style, over-looking either Braye Street or Braye Beach

Silver Rooms

The Silver Bedrooms are light and bright with a beachy feel and each has a modern ensuite bathroom. They are lovely cosy rooms that look out over the small quiet street below rather than towards the beach and sea – and are slightly smaller than the Gold Bedrooms.

Gold Rooms

The Gold Bedrooms are more spacious than the Silver. Like all the rooms they have a beachy feel and the windows let in plenty of light. Each is unique but they all have the same high standard of facilities and a nice modern ensuite bathroom. Rooms look out over the quiet street below.

Platinum Rooms

The Platinum is slightly smaller than the Platinum Plus but has the same beautiful views out over the beach and the breakwater. The rooms have a lovely modern ensuite bathroom and a bright beachy interior, with large windows looking out to sea and letting in plenty of light.

Platinum Plus Rooms

The Platinum Plus looks out over Braye Beach so you can wake up to the sound and sight of the ocean. These rooms are more spacious than the Platinum and have a small seating area to relax in. They have a relaxed beachy feel and either have large windows or balconettes.

The Cinema

The cinema can be used for either watching films or giving talks and presentations. There are 19 comfortable large leather armchairs on tiered levels so wherever you are sitting you have a great view. Blackout blinds mean that daytime viewings are no problem. The hotel has a large collection of dvds – classic films, newer releases and children’s movies. Guests can book out and use the cinema at no charge at any time when it is not in use. Perfect for a lazy afternoon or evening in at the hotel.

The Lounge

The hotel a lounge on the ground floor, both with doors leading out towards the beach. This is a peaceful area – mainly used for people to read, relax, talk and unwind. It’s is a great spot for afternoon tea or a pre-dinner glass of wine, an ideal quiet place to have a drink away from the bar.

There are games and puzzles for people who want to spend time together creatively, and there is also a good wifi signal so the area can be used as a comfortable working space.

Terrace Down.jpg

Our Terraces

In the sunshine there is nowhere better to sit and eat than the terraces leading off from the restaurant or bar. Both look directly over the beach and for those that love being by the sea and yet don’t quite want to immerse themselves in it this is the perfect spot to enjoy the ocean.

Many locals make this their morning coffee stop due to the wonderful views out over Braye Beach. During the summer these are busy vibrant areas filled with people sharing the local news, reading the newspapers and taking a bit of time out of their day to relax.
